Good evening all hope this week had treated you well, well the snow has finally arrived so make sure you keep warm and curl up in front of the telly after having a read of this.
While waiting for the tram to work at Mosley street station I happened to notice and keep a careful eye on this cute little cafe. It was a pop up cafe by the people who run the Teacup on Thomas street cafe in the Northern quarter of Manchester.
The cakes in the widow first caught my eye Heart shaped scones, blue meringues, Square fondant fancies and a rainbow sponge cake. I then looked in the other window and saw a large dolls house made from plywood. In each window of the doll’s house was a plate of cupcakes. Well that was it I wanted to go and try out some of the cakes.
A few weeks ago I managed to drag a friend along who was all too keen to “eat cake and drink tea” . We entered the cafe and the place was full so while we waited for a table we got to look and decided what cake to have. I went for a poppy seed cake with white chocolate and my friend opted for the pistachio financer. When a table became free we weren’t disappointed the cakes were lovely and our tea was served in a white tin teapot with a blue rim.
I also noticed the people who had ordered a speciality tea were given egg timers so they could ensure that the tea they had ordered had brewed for the correct amount of time, another great touch. We had a great time exchanged Christmas presents and caught up on gossip and plotted our next moves in life.
The Teacup on Thomas street has just had a refurbishment and will be all shiny and new. Also looks like there will be a new menu and options of outside catering. A sign on the window also promises a new pop up cafe in spring. Something to look forward to. If you are out and about in Manchester had enough of shopping or just need to revive yourself . Why not try Teacup on Thomas street.
